چکیده
ABSTRACT The complete mitochondrial genome of the pseudococculinid limpet Notocrater youngi was determined using Illumina sequencing and found to be a double-stranded circular molecule 15,915 bp in length. It contains usual 13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes 22 transfer although with gene order that differs from those all other presently known Vetigastropoda, is derived within Lepetellida. Phylogenetic analyses based on amino acid sequences join three species clade confirm well-supported Scissurelloidea + (Lepetelloidea Lepetodriloidea) but not monophyletic Lepetellida as currently understood. Patterns rearrangements are concordant these findings.

Positive selection on the killer whale mitogenome.
Mitochondria produce up to 95 per cent of the eukaryotic cell's energy. The coding genes of the mitochondrial DNA may therefore evolve under selection owing to metabolic requirements. The killer whale, Orcinus orca, is polymorphic, has a global distribution and occupies a range of ecological niches. It is therefore a suitable organism for testing this hypothesis. We compared a global dataset of...
متن کاملThe First Mitogenome of the Cyprus Mouflon (Ovis gmelini ophion): New Insights into the Phylogeny of the Genus Ovis
Sheep are thought to have been one of the first livestock to be domesticated in the Near East, thus playing an important role in human history. The current whole mitochondrial genome phylogeny for the genus Ovis is based on: the five main domestic haplogroups occurring among sheep (O. aries), along with molecular data from two wild European mouflons, three urials, and one argali. With the aim t...
متن کاملSMRT Sequencing Revealed Mitogenome Characteristics and Mitogenome-Wide DNA Modification Pattern in Ophiocordyceps sinensis
Single molecule, real-time (SMRT) sequencing was used to characterize mitochondrial (mt) genome of Ophiocordyceps sinensis and to analyze the mt genome-wide pattern of epigenetic DNA modification. The complete mt genome of O. sinensis, with a size of 157,539 bp, is the fourth largest Ascomycota mt genome sequenced to date. It contained 14 conserved protein-coding genes (PCGs), 1 intronic protei...

Animal mitogenomes are generally thought of as being economic and optimized for rapid replication and transcription. We use long-read sequencing technology to assemble the remarkable mitogenomes of four species of seed beetles. These are the largest circular mitogenomes ever assembled in insects, ranging from 24,496 to 26,613 bp in total length, and are exceptional in that some 40% consists of ...
